New Fuel for Superbike Series
For the 2015 competitions Sunoco RMR has been named the official fuel by AMA and MotoAmerica. This is the only fuel which will be allowed in competitions like the AMA Superbike Series. This fuel is available for purchase throughout the United States and will also be available on location at the competition.
This seems to be a smart decision as the Sunoco RMR is a very stable fuel and one of the biggest advantages is that crews don’t have to drain it from the fuel system after each use. This fuel is not street legal and is intended only for race use and off-road biking. The Sunoco RMR is a 94 octane fuel and has 2.7% weight oxygen, however there is no worry about this as it will not hurt the oxygen sensors used in different systems of the motorcycle.
The decision seems like a good one and it is since it’s coming from AMA and MototAmerica. Even though it might have some financial motivation behind it the two organizations are very involved in the well running of the races and motorcycles.
AMA – American Motorcyclist Association – was founded in 1924 and is a non-profit organization aimed to promote the motorcyclist way of life. The association is the biggest of its kind and advocates rider’s interests and sanctions all sorts of events like the AMA Superbike Series.
MotoAmerica is a racing series taking place in North America, which was created in 2014 and is slowly but firmly gaining ground, especially with AMA backing.
